Mt Timp Competition 10-8-11

Marching Band Competitions bring a smile to my face and tears to my eyes.  It is always a proud moment to watch your child perform.  That moment is the same for every Mother who watches their child do something they love.  The Guard changed something in the show this week and added swing flags in the middle.(Thank you to Laurel Gilbert for sewing the flags on short notice)  I enjoyed watching that part so much that I forgot to take any pictures with the new flag.  The day started out rainy and cold, the weatherman was telling us it was going to rain and be nasty all day, but he was wrong.  The rain stopped about the same time the first band entered the field and it stayed away the whole day, it was cold, but no moisture.

The girls arrive, excited and ready to perform.

Before the "timed" warm-up begins, the girls circle together for their last words of encouragement.

My only picture with the swing flag.  They spin it for a minute than a purple stripe appears at the side closest to the pole.  It is pretty cool!

Hey, how did McKenzie end up in the center of every picture I took?

The Guard links arms and waits for the awards.

Once the awards are all over the winning band plays their music again.  It happens a little differently at each competition, some times the band circles around in the parking lot and plays.  If it is at their home competition, they take the field and do the entire show again.  Sometimes the do a Concert Arc on the field and play the music.  That is what we did tonight, with the Color Guard doing their "work" on the back part of the field.  It was fun for me to be able to get close to the guard and take pictures.

WAY TO GO AMERICAN FORK HIGH SCHOL COLOR GUARD and MARCHING BAND!
