West High Competition 2 -5-11

There is just something about the first competition of the year.  Seeing the whole show come together, with the uniforms, the flags, the makeup, the  floor.  Watching the other guards show and thinking "Wow - they look good"  The girls that get the jitters, the parents (and I am one of them) who cry as their daughter walks onto the floor to set their equipment.   The music starts and it all falls into place, the facial expressions, the spinning, the excitement of performing in front of the crowd and the show is WONDERFUL!  Even now as I work on this blog and think back to that first show at West, my eyes are tearing up.  I attended lots of practices, but they just aren't the same as the SHOW!

As you can see in the excitement of these faces - the AMERICAN FORK HIGH SCHOOL OPEN WINTER GUARD got FIRST PLACE!  Way to go!
