Evaluation Show

At the start of the Winter Guard Competition Season they attend an Evaluation Show.  Their show is judged by a group of 4 judges who give their comments and opinions to the guard instructor.  They do it a couple of weeks before the first competition so that the guard knows what things they need to work on, or change before their first competition.  They only allow people involved with the performing group into the room.   American Fork has five guards that will be competiting this season.

Wasatch Academy is for kids from about 3rd grade to beginner 7th graders.

American Fork B Guard is 7th, 8th and beginner 9th grade students

American Fork A Guard is 8th grade and above.

American Fork Open Guard is for students that have been performing for a few years.  They have 1 9th grader, the rest are all in the High School.

The last guard is called Wasatch Independant, they are all people who have graduated from High School and still want to compete.  They can be a part of the Winter Guard program until the "Age Out" at 23.

Since the Open Guard was the last to do their Evaluation show, all of the kids in our other guards were able to be in the gym and watch their show.

One thing that I don't like about the Evaluation show, is that many of the guards are not really ready.  They don't know their whole show, the uniforms aren't ready, the floor hasn't been painted.   It seems like it would be hard to fully evaluate the show without all of the parts put together.

I really look forward to seeing all of the shows once they have their uniforms and shows complete.

I can't wait to see this with their uniforms.  It looks cool with the black and white, but will be AWESOME with uniforms!

Great toss, Mckenzie!

Woo Hoo!  Rachael spinning a rifle!

WOW! the show looks great!  Two weeks from today it will all come together, paiinted floor, uniforms, flags, hair, and makeup.  I am so excited!
