Painting the floor - TAKE TWO!

When the girls unfolded the newly painted guard floor this week, this is what they found.

The paint peeling off of the floor.

So we did this:

Peeled the paint off of the floor.

It took us about 5 hours.

Then the floor got a light sanding, and turpentine rubbed over the side that had been white.

We did a couple of sample spots.
Even, Tiffany's husband got in on the fun.
We moved the floor into a gym where we could spead it all out.
Divinding the floor in half on the diagonal.
Then the painting begins

Almost done.

Girls, will be girls, paint all over them.

Done for the night.

This is from the next day, the floor has been "Baby Powdered"  Hopefully the paint job this week will be okay.  Looking at the floor it needs a second coat of white paint.  Just waiting to hear when we will be putting that on.  Before or after the first competition, on Saturday.

Uniforms

We got together this morning to work on the uniforms.  The girls will have a white or black tutu.

Some of us worked on the feather pieces that will be sewn to the top of the tutu

We finished 14 white feather pieces and 13 black feather pieces.  Just the exact number that we needed.

Another table full of people worked on head pieces and wrist pieces.

It was a productive morning.  I can't wait until we ge to see the whole uniform together.

Painting the floor

It is amazing what a difference haviing a painted floor makes for a guard show.  The floor helps to tie the whole show togoether.  Once all of the Junior Jazz kids got out of the High School gyms the process begins.  First we put the floor down upside down and look for holes in the floor.  We have to put tape over all of the holes so that the paint doesn't leak onto the gym floor.

You can see the girls in the back getting some plastic ready to go under the edges of the floor.

Now we have to divide the floor in half on the diagonal.

Some people like to be in as many shots as possible.

The painting begins.

Good thing we have lots of help.
When the second floor isn't ready to paint yet, the girls watch their Evalation show from earlier in the day.

Final mop of the floor before the painting begins.

Painting black

Now the blue painting begins

Even Briggs lends a hand

Hey, how did she get paint on her pants?

The Wasatch Independant Winter Guard floor looks GREAT!

The black and white floor for the
AMERICAN FORK HIGH SCHOOL
OPEN WINTER GUARD
looks

FABULOUS!!!

Thank you to all the Band Dad, Guard Moms, brothers, sisters, boyfriends, friends, and guard girls who showed up to help.
