2011 Band Camp

Every year the band spends a week in Delta working on their field show.  It is a great opportunity to get away from other family, friends, tv, cell phones, internet, etc. and really spend the time working on the show without interruptions.

The girls are loaded up and ready to head to Band Camp in Delta

And they are off!

I went down to Band Camp in Delta on Wednesday, August 17th.  It was a nice drive down to Delta, I put in the IPOD and listened to a book all the way there.  The two hour drive went quickly.    It was good to get there and see Rachael.  I love my daughter, and missed her while she was gone.  The flag's were working outside and the weapons inside.

Just after I got there it was SNACK TIME

Then it was time to get back to work.  The girls worked for a couple more hours then had lunch, work a couple of hours and have a snack break, work a couple of hours and have dinner, then they worked with the band.

Did you notice a color theme?  Apparently Wednesday, was YELLOW day, and I didn't get the memo.  I know I didn't have on yellow.  But, neither did the leaders.

Hey, she got the Memo about yellow shirts.

Poncho

Yes, we got to have Poncho at band camp.  How exciting that was, he could "write" new drill as needed.

The girls are ready for meal time, I think the band MOM's do a great big feeding 250 kids three meals and 3 snacks every day.  It isn't easy to plan things that everyone will like, so when all else fails there is always this available

This is all I am allowed to show you of the making of the AMBROSIA salad.  If I were to show any more someone might "have to kill me"

This is what the girls did while waiting in line to get their food.

I would have liked to be in on that massage.

When the girls continue to do something wrong, this is what they have to do

Sometimes if you are one of the flag captains, you have to do pushups until all of the girls are back on the field and ready to practice again.

What does Tiffany have in her hands?

Yes, it is an IPAD, with the drill on it.  How cool is that?  Sure makes it easy to go from drill set to drill set and make sure everyone is in the right place.

All too soon, it was time for me to head back home, my day at band camp was over.  Next year I think I will need to spend more time there.

  1. OHHHHH BAND CAMP! Some of the longest, hardest, strangest, funniest, most tiring, sunburned, feet hurting, swollen lips from playing, and BEST days I have had in my life...and that was many, many years ago. I hope that each of these girls find remember it and love it as much as I did! I'm sooooooooo proud of Rachael! and always proud of the color guard and the band!
